The Phola Coal Plant is a 50/50 joint venture between Anglo American Coal (AAC) and BHP Billiton Energy Coal South Africa (BECSA). The coal processing technology is a standard heavy liquid treatment (DMS). As the plant is located in an environmentally sensitive area, the construction of sedimentation tanks has been banned. This means that the technology has a closed sludge circuit and all fine particles in coal processing must be dewatered in thickening screw presses.

  • Treatment plant capacity 2 400 t/h (2 x 1 200 t/h)
  • Material – black coal

  • Preparation of production documentation of the process line parts and steel structures
  • Author's supervision during commissioning
